The Children of Peru Foundation is strongly committed to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Children of Peru Foundation, (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information. We respect the privacy of every individual who visits our website (“Website”). This Privacy Policy is our commitment to transparency in communicating how we collect, use, and disclose your personal information as well as the choices you have with respect to such information.

Information we collect:
WORDPRESS: By default WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users.
DONATIONS: Donations made via our external links to Paypal and or Facebook Pay are processed securely through those respective sites/apps and subject to their own privacy policies. As such, we do not collect credit
card information from our donors. Data that we do receive (names, contact information etc) are subject to our own privacy policy, as described below.
CONTACT FORM: If you use our Contact Form (created with Contact Form 7), we may collect your name, email address, physical address, and phone number if you provide it to us when visiting our Website, including in connection
with a contact request. Contact Form 7 does not store submissions made via our contact form. Any data that we do receive from you are subject to our own privacy policy, as described below.
ANALYTICS: We use the WP Statistics plugin in for user analytics. This enables us to count unique visitors to the site, without cookies, browser cache or local storage. This approach aligns with strict privacy
regulations like GDPR, which consider device-persistent identifiers as personal data. We anonymize all IP addresses so no user’s full IP address is stored and we also have a DNT policy enabled, which respects the visitor’s browser
setting to not track their web activity. Privacy laws like GDPR do not mandate this feature, but activating it demonstrates our commitment to user privacy.
MAILCHIMP: We use the MC4WP Plugin for Mailchimp, which integrates Mailchimp with WordPress, collects data, including sign-up attempts, and usage data. MC4WP collects information on how the service is accessed
and used, such as your computer’s IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on those pages, however this data flows directly and securely to Mailchimp and is not collected or stored by MC4WP. This plugin does not use any cookies. Any
data that we do receive within Mailchimp are subject to our own privacy policy, as described below and also Mailchimp’s
terms of service and
privacy policy. Subscribers can easily unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by clicking the link in each e-mail.
COMMENTS: When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, or used our contact form, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Children’s Information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity.
We do not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13. If you think that your child provided this kind of information on our website, we strongly encourage you to contact us immediately and we will do our best efforts to promptly remove such information from our records.
