Kantaya’s vision is to educate vulnerable children and provide them with intellectual and emotional skills to overcome their socioeconomic barriers. Kantaya is committed to improving the Peruvian educational crisis through its afterschool program.

This program provides quality education, holistic development and a learning opportunity 6 days a week in the afternoon to children in early and primary education, who would otherwise be home alone after-school.

The Children of Peru Foundation started its partnership with Kantaya in 2020 with a $15,000 grant to support the migration to Remote Learning during COVID while the centers are closed supporting the education of 320+ children.

– More than 1,000 children have been benefited.

– 74% and 70% achieve proficiency in reading comprehension and mathematical skills against the national average of 38% and 15% in Peru (Evaluacion Censal Estudiantes por Ministerio de Educacion, 2018).

– Kantaya’s children are one year ahead in emotion regulation than other children in Ventanilla (Washoe County School District Social and Emotional Competency Survey, 2019).

– 67% of Kantaya’s youth have access to higher education against 2% in Ventanilla.
