IRONMAN US Championship
Jonathan Vera:

My  fundraising  goal: $6,000

              Amount raised so far: $2,900

Thanks for taking the time to visit my page in support of the Children of Peru Foundation, a great charity fighting against poverty in my homeland.

Recently, the Children of Peru Foundation contacted me as they were selected to be part of the charity program of the first IRONMAN in NY/NJ, offering me a place on their team. I saw this as a great opportunity to raise awareness for this charity, which is doing some very important work in Peru.

I have never done an IRONMAN and have only competed in triathlons of much less distance.

An IRONMAN consists of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and finished by a 26.2 mile run (yes, a marathon). Needless to say, I am taking on a very big challenge.

Running and triathlons have truly changed my life. Through endurance sports I have discovered strength and fortitude within myself that I never knew I had. With this newly discovered strength I also found the yearning to make a difference. I felt the need to use this sport, that gave so much to me, to give back.

I will be giving a lot of my time, energy and determination in preparing for this event. I ask that you please support me as I focus on training and preparation for the most demanding athletic endurance test I may ever face. My drive, focus and thirst for completing this event will need to be bold beyond measure. I understand this and accept this challenge.

I know we are all flooded with requests for money from hundreds of worthy causes. I want you to know that this money will be well used in the fight against poverty in my homeland. The money you give will help to build a better future for poor children in Peru, by helping to provide better healthcare & education.

I am beyond grateful to be given the chance to be a part of this. I hope you will join me as I embark on this great adventure to benefit a truly noble cause. My success will not only be determined by my endurance training but also the support of my family and friends. Together we can do this!

Here are some ways to sponsor my new challenge & this great cause:
